AEW Dark Elevation results: Jon Moxley vs. Danny Limelight

It’s Monday and you know what that means: time for AEW Dark: Elevation.

Lee Johnson defeated David Ali

This was a good and competitive match that featured Johnson acting a bit cocky during some portions. Could this be a hint of an upcoming heel turn? Johnson and Ali had great chemistry working together, but Johnson won the match with the blue thunder bomb, running his record for the year to 5-1.

Eddie Kingston defeated VSK

Kingston worked the returning VSK’s head and neck for a good portion of the match. VSK looked good, but Kingston won with a roll-up after avoiding a frog splash. Kingston later cut a promo on The Young Bucks. Unsurprisingly, this was as good as you might expect and was clearly setting up a future Tag Team title match between Bucks, Kingston and Jon Moxley.

Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page defeated Fuego Del Sol and Baron Black

Black and del Sol are the unsung heroes of Dark and Elevation. Their stuff always looks good and they always make their opponents look good. Page and Sky once again worked really well as a heel tag team. Unfortunately, this was another unsuccessful night for Alabama’s no. 1 luchador as Page hit the Ego’s Edge on him for the win, upping Sky and Page’s record to 6-0 as a team.

Later, Page and Sky were interviewed by Dasha Kuret. This was really good and once again showed the great chemistry they have as an act.

Thunder Rosa defeated Renee Michelle

Rosa controlled most of this match with Michelle looking solid both selling and with the limited offense she got in. Rosa beat her with the Peruvian calavera necktie, a new submission hold. Rosa later talked to Alex Marvez and talked about expanding her arsenal, the current situation in the women’s division, and her feud with Britt Baker. She also talked about NWA Women’s Champion Serena Deeb.

Chuck Taylor (w/ Trent?, Kris Statlander and Orange Cassidy) defeated Vary Morales

Chuckie T won with the Awful Waffle in a quick match followed by a group hug.

Leyla Hirsch defeated Dani Jordyn

This was Hirsch’s seventh win in a row. Jordyn had the plan of entering a striking contest so she could avoid Hirsch’s submission game. Unfortunately for her, she was unsuccessful as Hirsch won with a cross armbreaker after a cool transition.

Matt Sydal defeated Manny Smith

This was Smith’s AEW debut and Paul Wight was a big fan of his boots. This was another good outing for Sydal, who won with the Lightning Spiral. Sydal has now won 16 singles matches in AEW.

Jade Cargill defeated Reka Tehaka

This was a rematch from AEW’s The House Always Wins house show. Cargill dominated Tehaka, winning with her Jaded finisher. After the match, Mark Sterling, Esq. (aka MJF’s lawyer) offered his services to Cargill and they left together for a meeting.

Matt Hardy and Marq Quen (w/ Isiah Kassidy) defeated Dylan McQueen and Dean Alexander

Quen wrestled in street clothes, which was very surprising. It didn’t hinder his high flying ability, however. Kassidy was at ringside showing of not one, but two very expensive watches.

There’s not much that can be said about this match. McQueen and Alexander are very interesting wrestlers and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more of them in the future in AEW. Hardy won the match by submission using the Leech — the second straight Elevation match that Hardy has won by submission.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (w/ Rebel) defeated Raychell Rose

This was Rose’s second match in AEW. Baker dominated here and even pulled out some new moves ahead of her title match with Hikaru Shida at Double or Nothing. Baker won following a good-looking curb stomp and is now 10-1 on the year. Baker and Rebel later cut a promo on Shida, hyping up that match.

Tay Conti defeated Madi Wrenkowski

This was another solid performance from Conti who is the favorite to win the most improved award. She won after the DDTay.

Jurassic Express (Marko Stunt & Jungle Boy) defeated Chaos Project

This was one of the most competitive matches of the night and was also an enjoyable, fun watch. Stunt and Japanese deathmatch legend Luther have great chemistry together. Stunt picked up the win with a combo tag team finisher on Serpentico.

Alex Reynolds (w/ John Silver & Colt Cabana) defeated Isiah Kassidy (w/ Matt Hardy & Marq Quen)

The feud between the Hardy Family Office and Dark Order continued with members of each faction facing one another on this week’s Elevation. Kassidy, in a similar fashion to Quen earlier, wrestled in street clothes.

Kassidy and Reynolds worked really well together and had one of the best matches of the night. Kassidy worked his back for most of the match which Reynolds did a great job selling. Reynolds won the match with a roll-up. Afterward, the two factions clashed as this feud is far from over.

Jon Moxley defeated Danny Limelight

Earlier, Limelight had a sit-down interview with Wight which was fantastic. Again, this stuff needs to be on TV more often. They talked about Limelight’s life and wrestling career. If you were not a fan of Limelight going into this, this interview will change that immediately. Moxley came out with the IWGP US Title and in a fun fact, both Moxley and Limelight are frequent competitors on NJPW Strong.

This was the best match of the night. Moxley picked up the win with a Paradigm Shift from the second turnbuckle ahead of his IWGP US title defense against Yuji Nagata this Wednesday on Dynamite. Limelight looked great here as well.

Final Thoughts:

This was another solid episode of Elevation. The feud between The HFO and Dark Order continues. One of the most interesting things was the return of Sterling to offer his services to Cargill. Both Kingston’s promo and Limelight’s interview were highlights as well, but the match of the night was the main event between Moxley and Limelight.
