AEW Dark Elevation results: Hardy & Blade vs. Cabana & Angels

By Juan Reneo for F4WOnline.com
It’s Monday and you know what that means: time for AEW Dark: Elevation. Tonight was a fun card for episode eight of the series.
Miro defeated Will Allday
This was a very dominant performance by Miro. Allday got some offense in, but couldn’t do anything about Miro’s power. During the match, Miro said, “Give me all your champions.” It was soon Game Over as Miro submitted Allday. He remains undefeated in AEW singles competition at 6-0.
Abadon defeated Ryo Mizunami
There’s no better contrast of styles and gimmicks than these two. During the match, Abadon bit Mizunami’s arm to counter her chops. This turned out to be a very competitive match. Abadon has improved so much since joining AEW. She won here with Cemetery Drive (Gory special neckbreaker), her biggest win in AEW so far. Mizunami had not lost since her title match against current AEW women’s champion Hikaru Shida.
Jon Moxley defeated Andrew Palace
This was a strong and dominant performance for Moxley who won by submitting Palace with a rear naked choke.
10 defeated D3
10 won this match by submission with a full nelson, improving his record to 13-1. Not much happened here in his first match since losing to TNT Champion Darby Allin last Wednesday. Fun fact: D3 is the first Italian wrestler to wrestle for AEW. This was also his return to AEW after being away for several months.
Orange Cassidy (w/ Kris Statlander) defeated VSK
This was Cassidy’s longest match in three weeks. He ended up winning with the Beach Break and has yet to lose a singles match in 2021.
FTR (w/ Tully Blanchard) defeated The Hughes Brothers
The former Tag Team Champions picked up a win before the big Blood & Guts match this Wednesday. FTR are so good in the small details which Paul Wight and Tony Schiavone did a good job pointing out. This match also had a lot of interesting tag team moves from the Hughes Brothers who more offense than one would have expected. Ultimately, FTR won this match with the Big Rig.
Nyla Rose (w/ Vickie Guerrero) defeated Madi Wrenkowski
For a few episodes of Dark and Elevation, Rose and Wrenkowski were a tag team. On last week’s Elevation, Rose attacked her and left her all alone before Big Swole and Red Velvet were able to pick up the win. Before the match began, Guerrero insulted Justin Roberts and gave the referee some money. Wrenkowski immediately went after the former Women’s Champion but as soon as Rose took control, it was all over. Rose won after hitting the beast bomb.
Nick Comoroto (w/ The Factory) defeated Baron Black
This was a squash. Comoroto had control of this match from the moment the bell rang, winning after a power bomb.
Red Velvet defeated Reka Tehaka
Tehaka is the first wrestler of American Samoan descent to wrestle for AEW. She made her AEW debut on The House Always Wins house show during WrestleMania weekend. She’s also a student of the Nightmare Factory. She got a lot of offense in during this match which resulted in one of the most competitive matches this week. Velvet won this bout following a beautiful spinning kick.
Private Party (w/ Matt Hardy) defeated Duke Davis & Ganon Jones
Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy work so much better as heels and you could see the influence of The Young Bucks and Matt Hardy on them during the match. Jones and Davis were very impressive on this match and even got a near fall in. Private Party won after Kassidy rolled up Davis as Hardy prevented Jones from breaking up the pin by holding his leg.
Thunder Rosa defeated Willow Nightingale
This was Nightingale’s AEW debut and a strong one as she put on a very good and competitive match with Rosa. Nightingale went for a moonsault, but Rosa picked her up and countered with a fire thunder driver to win the match.
QT Marshall (w/ The Factory) defeated Dillion McQueen
McQueen is the prize student of the Nightmare Factory student and facing Marshall made all the sense in the world to continue the feud between The Factory and The Nightmare Family. Marshall had control for most of this match, even working McQueen’s nose for a good portion of the match.
The Tony Soprano of AEW won this match with the CrossRhodes. After match, Marshall delivered a piledriver on McQueen onto the steel steps to make a statement ahead of his Wednesday clash with Cody Rhodes at Blood & Guts.
Austin & Colten Gunn defeated Chaos Project
Two of the most prominent tag teams of AEW Dark and Elevation faced off in this one. Chaos Project remain as one of the most creative tag teams in AEW with their gimmick of Japanese deathmatch legend Dr. Luther using Serpentico as a weapon in different and creative ways each week.
This was one of the few competitive matches of the night. This was Colten’s best performance so far in AEW and he won the match with the Colt 45 to Serpentico. The brothers are 3-0 in tag team competition. Jon Cruz (Serpentico’s alter ego) must be really happy about this result right now.
Matt Hardy & The Blade (w/ Hardy Family Office) defeated Dark Order’s Colt Cabana & Alan “5” Angels (w/ Dark Order)
Hardy and his group have been feuding with Dark Order ever since they intervened during his feud with Hangman Page. This was another competitive match. Angels, in particular, was very motivated and the MVP of this bout which featured a ringside brawl between both factions. Hardy ultimately got the win by submission with the Leech on Angels.
Final Thoughts:
Not much happened on this episode of Elevation other than some storylines advancement (Dark Order vs. HFO, Factory vs. The Nightmare Factory). My match of the night was Chaos Project vs. Gunn Club.
