AEW Dark Elevation results: Frankie Kazarian vs. Tiger Ruas

It’s Monday and you know what that means: a six-match AEW Dark: Elevation taped last Wednesday at the Hertz Arena in Fort Myers, Florida. Tony Schiavone, Paul Wight and Mark Henry were on the call tonight.
Nyla Rose (w/ Vickie Guerrero) defeated Katalina Perez
Perez tried to outsmart Rose by attacking her as soon as the bell rang, but it didn’t work. Rose finished her off with a brutal Beast Bomb to quickly improve her record to 62-23.
Frankie Kazarian defeated Tiger Ruas
Ruas, the former WWE NXT wrestler, was able to showcase some of his expertise in capoeira and Brazilian jiu jitsu during this match, but it wasn’t a problem for Kazarian. Ruas worked his left arm to temporarily prevent the crossface chicken wing, but he didn’t do enough. Kazarian eventually picked up the submission win with it, improving his overall record to 65-29.
This was the best match of the night.
Emi Sakura & The Bunny defeated Skye Blue & KiLynn King
Sakura and Bunny isolated Blue early on from King to gain an early advantage. When King finally entered the ring, her strength turned things around for a while for the babyfaces. Blue showed great babyface fire during this match and that her biggest flaw is that she is hot-headed which the heels took advantage of. Bunny used Into the Rabbit Hole on King to pick up with win, yet another victory for Bunny and Sakura over Blue in tag team action.
Jay Lethal defeated Merrik Donovan
This was Donovan’s AEW debut and he got a lot of offense in on Lethal. Donovan tried to ground him with headlocks as he must be a huge Randy Orton fan. Lethal won with a combination of a flatliner and the Lethal Injection to improve to 8-1.
Ruby Soho defeated Amber Nova
Soho won with No Future to improve her overall record to 20-4.
Dark Order (Alex Reynolds & John Silver) defeated Chaos Project
On this week’s Paul Wight investigation regarding Luther’s past, he mentioned that Luther was a former Formula 1 world champion. We at the Wrestling Observer call B.S. on that.
Serpentico and Luther tried to isolated Reynolds early on, but they failed to keep him down and a hot tag from Silver made things even more complicated for Chaos Project. Dark Order used a combination of a stunner and German suplex on Serpentico to pick up the win. After the match, Luther attacked Reynolds and Silver, but the other members of Dark Order made the save.
These two teams will rematch on Tuesday’s AEW Dark.
Final Thoughts:
Short episodes of Elevation are always an easy watch, and this was no exception. Ruas vs. Kazarian was the best match of the night and worth giving it a watch.
Wight and Henry have improved so much on commentary and are a very fun duo to listen to with Schiavone as well.
