AEW Dark Elevation results: Dark Order vs. Death Triangle

It’s Monday and you know what that means: a five-match AEW Dark: Elevation coming on the heels of a special Thursday edition. These matches were taped last Wednesday in Houston, Texas.

Dante Martin defeated Anthony Bowens

Bowens’ strategy was trying to ground Martin (which was impossible) and taking advantage of his strength. Bowens worked Martin’s left shoulder for most of the match and Martin did a good job selling it. Martin hit a lot of cool moves including a ridiculously high dropkick. Bowens also had a nice looking rope hang reverse DDT that Martin sold well. Martin (14-5) won with the Rough Landing.

Varsity Blonds (w/ Julia Hart) defeated Warren Johnson & Zack Mason

This match was to build up the Blonds ahead of their Tag Team title eliminator tournament match against the Lucha Brothers taking place this Wednesday. Before the match, Hart and Big Swole challenged Diamante and a partner of her choosing (later revealed to be Nyla Rose) to a tag team match in the near future.

Mason and Johnson worked as heels and they were good at it. The match was built towards a hot tag to Griff Garrison and it was the key for the Blonds to win the match. Brian Pillman Jr. hit an Air Pillman to pick up the win for his team, upping their record to 17-4.

Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor & Wheeler Yuta) (w/ Kris Statlander) defeated TH2 & The Blade (w/ The Bunny)

The feud between Best Friends and HFO continues. AEW and trios matches are always a great combination and this match was no exception. As expected, The Bunny intervened to help TH2 and Blade. Cassidy got a huge pop both for the hot tag and when he hit a double hurracarana on TH2. Cassidy picked up the win after hitting Beach Break. After the match, Matt Hardy and Private Party came out to stare down Cassidy ahead of their Dynamite match Wednesday.

Tay Conti defeated Promise Braxton

This was Braxton’s second match for AEW as her first outing was a loss to Abadon. Conti controlled the majority of the match and showed some of her best moves and some new ones including what Eddie Kingston called an angel’s pin. Braxton did a great job selling Conti’s offense. Conti won after hitting the DDTay and her record is 23-3 in 2021.

Death Triangle (w/ Alex Abrahantes) defeated The Dark Order’s Colt Cabana, Alan Angels & Evil Uno

Death Triangle have a lot going on lately with Andrade El Idolo trying to recruit the Lucha Brothers, PAC facing him at All Out, and the Lucha Brothers facing the Varsity Blonds on Wednesday with a shot at the Tag Team titles on the line.

Before the match began, Andrade, Chavo Guerrero and Tablet Guy came out to watch the match at ringside.

Rey Fenix was fantastic and there’s a reason why he is one of the best wrestlers in the world. One of the best parts of the match was when Penta El Zero Miedo chopped Angels and the crowd chanted “Otra” (“another one” in Spanish). Cabana had the most shocking move of the night with a combination of a scissors and spiking Fenix’s head to the mat. Death Triangle won this match with a combination of Fear Factor and the Black Arrow, upping their trios record is 3-1.

After the match, there was a confrontation between Angels and Uno and Alex Reynolds came out to stop the fighting. There are dark days coming to the lovable goofs of the Dark Order.

Final Thoughts:

Eddie Kingston on commentary was a major highlight and his chemistry with Tony Schiavone and Paul Wight helped the show a lot. All the matches were fun to watch, but the best match of the show was the Dark Order vs. Death Triangle main event. The show itself was short and easy to watch like most episodes of Elevation.

AEW is slowly building the trios records of several teams on all their shows, so there’s a good chance those long rumored titles will be coming soon.
