AEW Dark Elevation results: Dante Martin vs. Serpentico

It’s Monday and you know what that means: time for a six-match AEW Dark: Elevation card.
Thunder Rosa defeated Leila Grey
Rosa dominated — so much so that Grey was not able to get offense in at all. The Fire Thunder Driver won this for Rosa whose record is now 17-2.
Scorpio Sky defeated Marcus Kross
This was the AEW debut of the man with the coolest hair in wrestling. Ethan Page was on commentary putting over his tag team partner. The best part of this match was when Sky pulled Kross’ hair, leading to some great heel heat because of it. Sky won this match with the TKO, also running his record to 17-2 this year.
Hikaru Shida defeated Dani Jordyn
Jordyn wrote in her burn book (reference to the movie Mean Girls) “Shida no belts.” That was a big mistake. Shida got the best reactions of the night. Something interesting here was Jordyn getting more offense than usual with everything looking solid for the most part. Shida won with the Katana, upping her overall singles record to 33-4.
Orange Cassidy (w/ Kris Statlander & Chuck Taylor) defeated Angelico (w/ Jack Evans)
This was the battle of cool: Cassidy (who is cool) against the coolest dancer on the AEW roster, Angelico. One of the funniest things in the match was seeing Chuck Taylor trying to do TH2’s dance and Jack Evans being scared of Kris Statlander, who probably saw an aliens documentary and was scared of what could happen to him if he faced her. Cassidy had the crowd in the palm of his hand the entire match.
Angelico pulled off a few cool submissions. The two countered each other really well throughout, but Cassidy won with the mousetrap. After the match, TH2 failed in trying to attack Cassidy. The Bunny and The Blade then came out as a preview of their upcoming match against Cassidy and Statlander on Wednesday.
Serena Deeb defeated Tesha Price
This was Deeb’s first match on Elevation. She debuted a robe with “Woman Of A 1000 Holds” on it. On commentary, Paul Wight suggested the possibility of bringing back Captain Insano. Deeb worked as a heel and it translated really well during the match, especially as she worked Price’s left leg. Deeb won with a combination of a Detox and the Serenity lock, upping her record to 10-3.
Dante Martin defeated Serpentico (w/ Luther)
Luther intervened on Serpentico’s favor at several points. This match was another showcase for Dante’s in-ring ability, but in particular, his jumping. Martin won with a flipping cutter that was really cool looking. After the match, both members of Chaos Project attacked Martin but Matt Sydal (Martin’s recent singles opponent) ran out to make the save.
Final Thoughts:
This was a fine episode of Elevation as the work in all the matches was solid. Martin is going to be a star someday. That flipping cutter was really cool and it was just an all-around great main event. With less matches, the show was more focused and with more competitive matches. This is a hint of what’s to come for Dark and Elevation with AEW touring again.
