AEW Dark Elevation results: Daniel Garcia vs. Lee Moriarty

It’s Monday and you know what that means: an eight-match AEW Dark: Elevation, taped last Wednesday in Cincinnati, Ohio. Eddie Kingston joined Paul Wight and Tony Schiavone on commentary.
Emi Sakura (w/ Lulu Pencil) defeated Queen Aminata
This was the battle of the Queens and a competitive one at that. Sakura (6-1) continued to be more heelish in her latest AEW run, winning after a spinning Vader Bomb. She remains undefeated in singles action since her return.
Frankie Kazarian defeated Ren Jones
This is Jones’ third match in AEW. Jones worked heel and people popped big for Kazarian’s stuff during this match. Kazarian (26-4) dominated most of the way, winning by submission with the crossface chicken wing ahead of his Dynamite match with Adam Cole.
Penelope Ford (w/ The Bunny) defeated Layna Lennox
This was Lennox’s AEW debut. The Bunny interfered in the favor of Ford (13-4) who won by submission with a Muta lock.
The Butcher & The Blade (w/ The Bunny) defeated Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum
Known as the Outrunners on the indies, this was Floyd and Magnum’s AEW debut. Butcher and Blade got a great pop coming out as they really missed Butcher. He was very aggressive as soon as the match started and was very dominant. Butcher and Blade (6-0) won in quick fashion with a neckbreaker/power bomb combination.
Jade Cargil (w/ Smart Mark Sterling) defeated Shawna Reed
This was Reed’s third match in AEW and she lost in a squash. Cargill won with Jaded to remain undefeated at 13-0.
Anna Jay & Tay Conti defeated Ella Shaw & Jaylee
This was Jaylee and Ella Shaw’s first match in AEW and also their first match as a tag team. TayJay (Conti and Jay’s tag team name) got one of the biggest reactions on Elevation. TayJay controlled most of the match. Shaw and Jaylee used some heel tactics to temporarily regain the advantage, but TayJay won by submission with a combination of the DDTay and the Queen Slayer.
Daniel Garcia (w/ 2point0) defeated Lee Moriarty
This was Moriarty’s first match on Elevation after two matches on Dark. 2point0 worked in Garcia’s favor throughout the match. Moriarty and Garcia had great competitive sequences. Garcia worked Moriarty’s left leg which Moriarty did a great job selling. Garcia won by submission with a deep scorpion deathlock in a fantastic match.
Nyla Rose (w/ Vickie Guerrero) defeated Skye Blue
In this week’s interesting trivia, Blue was part of the thumbnail of this week’s episode of Elevation. Only AEW wrestlers make it to the thumbnail with the exceptions of Fuego del Sol, Maki Itoh, Danny Limelight and Madi Wrenkowski. Blue’s future will be very interesting to keep an eye on. She also got an entrance before the match, so AEW is either signing her pretty soon or she might be signed already.
This was another showcase for Blue, but Rose’s power was too much. Blue used speed to her advantage and countered some of Rose’s offense, even getting a near fall. Rose (21-4) won this match with a Beast Bomb.
Final Thoughts:
This was a short episode of Elevation and everything was on point. The commentary trio did a great job putting people over. Throughout the episode, Kingston commented on Bryce Remsburg and his work as a referee during the matches he was on and his displeasure with him due to what happened at All Out.
The match of the night was Moriarty vs. Garcia which is well worth watching. Rose vs. Blue, while short, is also worth watching too.
