AEW crowns inaugural Women’s Champion on Dynamite premiere

Riho has made history, defeating Nyla Rose tonight to become the first ever AEW Women’s Champion.
She defeated Rose following a double foot stomp on tonight’s premiere episode of Dynamite on TNT. After the match, Michael Nakazawa attempted to get an interview with Riho. However, Nyla Rose jumped Nakazawa and laid him out with a powerbomb.
Rose then set her sights on Riho, who attempted to make an escape. Rose was about to lay her out on the apron when Kenny Omega made the save for Riho. Rose was eventually escorted to the back as Omega helped Riho to her feet.
Riho, 22, has been wrestling in Japan since the age of 9, wrestling for both Ice Ribbon and Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling. She made her debut for AEW at Double or Nothing in a six woman tag team match.
Rose defeated twenty other women to win the All Out Women’s Casino Battle Royal, advancing to tonight’s Women’s title match. After Riho defeated Hiraku Shida on the very same program, Rose confronted Riho, setting up tonight’s match.
