AEW Collision live results: The final stop before Revolution

An eight-man tag match match will go down Saturday twenty-four hours prior to AEW Revolution.

Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, Hook, and Daniel Garcia will take on Christian Cage, Killswitch, Roderick Strong, and Brian Cage on Collision, which was taped after AEW Dynamite on Wednesday. Cassidy and Strong will meet at Revolution for the International title, while Christian will defend the TNT Championship against Garcia.

A three-way match between Penta El Zero Miedo, Bryan Keith, and Dante Martin will determine the final entrant in the eight-man scramble match set for Revolution. The winner will join Chris Jericho, Powerhouse Hobbs, Lance Archer, Wardlow, Hook, and CMLL’s Magnus.

We will also be hearing from Toni Storm and Deonna Purrazzo shortly before their AEW Women’s Championship match. Formerly friends, Purrazzo has attempted to reach Storm by bringing up their previous friendship, but Storm has no interest in rekindling their former relationship.

Live coverage begins at 8 pm ET.

Sir Elton John played us into Collision, one day before tomorrow’s Revolution PPV. Tony Schiavone, Kevin Kelly, & Nigel McGuinness were on the call.

Buddy Matthews came to the ring for a singles match, but Mark Briscoe came in through the crowd and pulled Matthews to the floor for a fight. The two brawled with weapons before Briscoe cannonballed over the top rope to send Matthews through a table. Briscoe pulled out a railroad spike, but Brody King & Malakai Black pulled him out of the ring.

Briscoe dropped King with a low blow before taking Black down with a chair. Briscoe went to hit Black with the spike, but Matthews drilled Briscoe with a knee. They brawled up the ramp before Briscoe dove off the stage onto Matthews. Briscoe got a hold of the pyro board, then put Matthews’ head where the pyro came out. Security stopped Briscoe, allowing the House of Black to fully retreat.

We got comments from Swerve Strickland after Hangman Page’s sneak attack on him on Dynamite. Swerve wasn’t sure if he was angrier at Page for the attack, or at himself for being too nice. He hung the Hangman and Hangman swerved Swerve, so he considered them even and promised to never take his eyes off of Page again. Swerve vowed to be a history maker and become the first black AEW World Champion at Revolution.

All-Star Scramble Qualifying Match – Dante Martin defeated Bryan Keith, Penta El Zero Miedo (w/Alex Abrahantes)

The winner of this match takes the final spot in the All-Star Eight-Man Scramble at Revolution tomorrow night.

The match started quickly after some shenanigans with Penta’s glove. All three men cycled in and out of the ring before Penta hit Martin with a Slingblade. Penta ran wild, hitting a set of thrust kicks and a backstabber before Keith cut off a dive with a big boot. Keith hit an Exploder suplex on Penta for a nearfall. Keith and Penta traded forearms before Martin took them both down with a crossbody. Martin hit dives on both men as we went to commercial.

After the commercial break, the three men traded forearms. Penta vaulted off of Keith into a Destroyer on Martin for a nearfall. Penta vaulted off of the ropes, but Keith cut him off with a knee. Penta went to the top rope, but Keith sent him to the floor with a jumping headbutt. Keith rolled through a sunset flip and hit a knee before scoring a nearfall with the Tiger Driver.

Penta and Keith got into a chop battle on the apron before Penta hit Keith with a Fear Factor on the apron. Martin came in and dropped Penta with a Destroyer on the apron. Martin hit the Mamba Splash on Keith in the ring to score the win and clinch the final spot in the All-Star 8-Man Scramble at Revolution.

We heard from a rabid Hangman Page from after Dynamite. He said that he would rather die than let Swerve Strickland win the AEW Title, and he would rather die than not win the title himself.

Mariah May defeated Angelica Risk

I’ve quickly become sold on Mariah May. Her work is snug and heavy, a little reminiscent of Jamie Hayter. The segment after was a fine go-home segment for the Women’s Title match.

The most notable part of this match was Nigel McGuinness fainting after May blew him a kiss. May obliterated Risk with a running knee before hitting Mayday to score her fourth straight win of the year.

After the match, Timeless Toni Storm made her way to the ring to May’s excitement. Storm blew her off again, instead calling out Deonna Purrazzo to the ring. Storm asked if it was worth losing their friendship over this title match, instead telling Purrazzo that she loved her talent and determination. Storm said that she loved the fact that there was only room for one of them at the top and that Purrazzo would never get there.

Purrazzo said that while she loved Storm as well, Storm was so delusional that she was going to lose the one thing that started this whole charade. Purrazzo threatened to break both of Storm’s arms. Storm kissed Purrazzo goodbye before a fight broke out. May helped Storm escape but ended up taking a Storm Zero from Purrazzo as she stood tall.

Bang Bang Scissor Gang (Anthony Bowens, Austin Gunn & Max Caster) (w/Billy Gunn, Colten Gunn & Jay White) defeated The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno & John Silver)

Caster couldn’t get the rap out again this week, this time due to White getting in his way. Gunn tripped up Reynolds to start, but Reynolds dragged Caster into their corner to try and isolate him. Caster quickly fought all three off before getting Uno isolated for Scissor Me Timbers. Silver cut off the mid-match scissoring, allowing the Dark Order to get a quick nearfall on Gunn.

After a commercial break, Gunn fought to the corner and tagged Bowens. Bowens ran wild until Uno sent him into the ring post. The Dark Order hit Ragnarok, but Gunn cut off the pin. Bowens sent Silver into Reynolds, then hit Acclaim to Fame. Caster hit the Mic Drop to get the win.

Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander, & Stokely Hathaway were backstage with Lexy Nair. Hathaway apologized for causing Statlander’s loss on Dynamite. Nightingale said that they had to get on the same page before threatening Skye Blue & Julia Hart with an ass-kicking at Revolution. Nightingale & Statlander wrestle Blue & Hart on the Revolution Zero Hour.

Tony Schiavone welcomed out Wardlow ahead of the All-Star Scramble match tomorrow night. Two years ago at Revolution, Wardlow won the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match. Last year, he beat Samoa Joe. This year, he said he would run through all of the other “all stars” and get his World Title shot. He said he would slap Hangman Page back into depression and whoop Swerve Strickland’s ass all over Swerve’s House. He was tired of hearing people chant for Samoa Joe because Joe was in his spot. Wardlow said he would send Joe back to commentary with the beating he gave him. Wardlow said that this was war.

Chris Jericho came out, taking umbrage with Wardlow thinking ahead of the scramble. Jericho said that he wasn’t an All Star, he was one of the biggest stars in wrestling history. He reminded Wardlow that he was the first AEW World Champion before saying that he wanted a chance to win the title back. Jericho chided Wardlow for blaming outside factors for his fall down the card, instead saying that Wardlow wasn’t good enough to get it.

Wardlow said that Jericho was right. He allowed his fall to happen and allowed his professional failings to hurt his personal life. Wardlow spent his time away to remember who he was and take what he believed he was owed. He told Jericho to come to the ring and find out how good he was. Jericho obliged, but Powerhouse Hobbs dropped him on the ramp before barking at Wardlow.

Serena Deeb was backstage with Lexy Nair. Deeb chided her recent competition, saying that they wouldn’t know a wristlock from a wristwatch. She challenged anyone who thought they were elite to step to her and find out why she was the Final Boss. Hmm.

Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) defeated Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal

They lost a lot of time due to injury, but Private Party is still a cold act. Much like the Dark Order, they feel like guys who got left behind as AEW evolved.

This came about after Private Party and Sydal lost a trios match on a recent episode of Rampage. The four traded arm drags before they got into a standoff. After some dancing shenanigans, Daniels and Sydal isolated Quen. Sydal got a nearfall with a corkscrew senton, and Daniels got a nearfall with a rabbit lariat.

After a commercial break, Daniels dropped Kassidy with an STO. Sydal tagged in and ran wild but got outnumbered. Private Party hit a double team senton on Sydal for a nearfall before Daniels tagged in. The match turned into a Pier Six brawl before Daniels hit the Angel’s Wings on Quen. Jeff Jarrett and his crew came to the ring to distract the referee, allowing Jay Lethal to hit Daniels with the Lethal Combination. Quen got the cover and the win, thanks to their partners on tomorrow’s Zero Hour.

We got a video package hyping up the Continental Crown match between Eddie Kingston & Bryan Danielson.

Brian Cage, Roderick Strong, Christian Cage & Killswitch (w/Nick Wayne, Prince Nana & Shayna Wayne) defeated Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, Daniel Garcia & Hook

This was the end of a double taping on Wednesday night, and it felt like it. Fine filler to get the midcard matches at Revolution some spotlight this week.

Garcia and Strong grappled to start the match. Garcia and Hook pinballed Cage before sending Strong out of the ring. We got a standoff before going to commercial. After the break, Garcia sent Cage into the corner and clubbered him in the corner. Cage sent Garcia to the apron and hit a deadlift superplex before tagging Strong. The rudos used quick tags to beat up on Garcia before Garcia fought his way free, hitting a pendulum DDT on Cage.

Garcia tagged Beretta, who ran wild with big moves until Killswitch cut him off with a chokeslam on the apron. After another commercial, Christian dropped Beretta with a reverse DDT. Beretta moved out of the way of a diving headbutt, but Strong cut off the crawl for a tag. Strong mocked Cassidy by soft kicking Beretta before Beretta kicked his way free of the Stronghold. Cassidy got the tag and ran wild, hitting Cage with a Stundog Millionaire and a satellite DDT for a nearfall.

Killswitch got caught with an Orange Punch, kicking off a move train that ended in a Pier Six brawl breaking out. Strong caught Cassidy on a dive and hit End of Heartache. Garcia and Hook took Cage to the floor with dual Cactus Clotheslines. While Strong held Cassidy in a Stronghold on the floor, Beretta caught Killswitch with a flash pin on a chokeslam reversal for a nearfall. Nick Wayne clubbed Beretta over the neck while Christian had the referee’s attention. Killswitch hit the Extinction Lariat for the win.

The brawl continued after the bell as everyone brawled. Killswitch set up Garcia for a chokeslam onto a chair, but Matt Menard jumped off of commentary and ended up taking the bullet for Garcia.
