AEW Collision debut officially announced for Chicago’s United Center

For the first time since last June, AEW will return to Chicago’s United Center for the debut of the new Collision TV show and the expected return of CM Punk.

AEW head Tony Khan officially announced the news during Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday for the Saturday, June 17th date that will kick off a new weekly two-hour show on TNT, their third in-ring product on the WBD networks.

Shortly after the news of what would become Collision first surfaced, stories emerged that Punk would be part of it along with a split roster. The show was officially announced at last week’s WBD upfront, but Punk’s name was absent from the talent announced like Miro, Thunder Rosa, Andrade El Idolo, and others.

If Punk does appear, it will be his first such appearance on AEW TV since last September’s All Out due to both a torn triceps suffered at the show and the fallout from his fight with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega after Punk’s infamous post-event press conference.

This will be AEW’s third-ever trip to the home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks. The first was in August 2021 for a live Rampage that featured Punk’s return to pro wrestling after seven years away without ever officially being announced. That was followed by last June’s first-ever AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
