AEW’s Andrade El Idolo out with ankle inflammation

AEW’s Andrade El Idolo is currently out of action due to ankle inflammation.
On Friday afternoon, AEW head Tony Khan answered a fan’s question on Twitter about why Andrade hasn’t been appearing in the ring more often.
Khan said Andrade was hurt in his singles match against Rey Fenix on the Friday, June 24th Rampage.
Heโll be ringside for Private Party vs Lucha Bros on #AEWRampage on @TNTdrama tonight, heโs been hurt since the classic vs @ReyFenixMx 3 weeks ago.
He got @IsiahKassidy & @Marq_Quen to help him tonight, & Lucha Bros both still want a piece of @AndradeElIdolo & @rushtoroblanco too https://t.co/YtIa1uqwXH— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) July 15, 2022
Andrade took to Twitter Friday night to put fans at ease, saying he would be out a week or two and that the injury was nothing serious.

He later replied to another news outlet’s story about the injury, adding the detail about the inflammation.
Nothing serious. I have inflammation in my ankle, it is because I have been in the business for almost 20 years!!! ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ @ewrestlingnews https://t.co/8G06nB7aBD pic.twitter.com/1tvi7ATDDF

Andrade missed some time in April and May due to his recent marriage to Charlotte Flair of WWE. He competed in the early-June Casino Battle Royale, followed by a Dark: Elevation match against Kazarian and the aforementioned Fenix match.
On past editions of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has noted that AEW wants to do Andrade & Rush vs. Lucha Brothers but have been unable to due to injuries on both sides.
Andrade was present on Friday’s Rampage, backing up Private Party as they took on Rey Fenix & Penta Oscuro. Rush got involved in the match, interfering and accidentally leading to Private Party’s loss.
