Adam Cole not yet cleared to wrestle in AEW, but ‘getting better and better’

The journey for Adam Cole to return to an AEW ring is still an ongoing one as company head Tony Khan said his star is not 100% as of now, but that “he’s getting better and better.”
Khan revealed the news in a talk with CBS Sports, saying Cole remains uncleared to compete. He didn’t give any timeframe as to when that could happen.
“I think (his recovery) is great news for AEW. We love Adam Cole and the fans love Adam Cole. He’s been a big part of the company now for almost three years of our five year journey. It’s crazy to think Adam Cole, a year ago at this time, really felt like he was getting towards the top of the wrestling world,” Khan said.
Cole broke his ankle in a freak accident jumping off the entrance ramp on the September 2023 Grand Slam edition of Dynamite as he ran out to help then-World Champion MJF. He had to undergo two surgeries and have both screws and a plate inserted into his ankle.
Cole has been on TV occasionally since being revealed as The Devil character and turning on MJF at last December’s Worlds End, officially forming The Undisputed Kingdom faction. MJF has been out of action recovering from injuries and has not been on TV in any form since Worlds End when he lost the title to Samoa Joe.
